Cougar Miscues Costly In Loss To South Caldwell

South Caldwell rallied late and scored a win over Alexander Central that pulls the Spartans into a first-place tie in the Northwestern Conference.

The Cougars led 2-1 going to the home-half of the 5th inning in Sawmills when South tied the game. The Spartans would plate 4 runs in the 6th to take a commanding lead at 6-2. ACHS would score twice in the 7th but the rally fell short.

The Cougars committed 5 costly errors in the game leading to 3 unearned runs. Those errors would be fatal.

Mason Chapman Mays had 3 hits for AC, Maddox Jack who suffered the loss had 2 rbi at the plate. The Cougars out-hit South 10-6.

Both teams sit at 6-2 in league play. ACHS is 15-2 overall, South Caldwell improves to 11-5.

Alexander Central 4 runs-10 hits-5 errors
South Caldwell 6 runs-6 hits- 1 error

Alexander Central will play in the Catawba Valley Easter Tournament. They will open the event with a game against Newton Conover on Monday at 4pm.
