Newton Police arrested 18-year-old Merissa Dawn Stewart of 6th Street SW in Conover on Thursday. She is charged with first-degree arson and served warrants for two counts of failure to appear on traffic related offenses. Stewart was placed in the Catawba County Detention Center without bond.
