Chase Starts In Hickory And Ends In Alexander County

A woman is in custody following a chase that ended in Alexander County Wednesday evening.

Hickory Police Officers pursued a vehicle on Highway 127 into Alexander County. Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies and the North Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit. The chase ended on Buff Lane in the Ellendale Community after the vehicle had tires deflated by stop-sticks.

29-year old Katie Michelle Melton is listed as a homeless person from Charlotte. She has been charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, driving left f center, driving with license revoked, and driving with fictitious or altered registration/tag. Melton is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $18,500.
