Catawba County Chase Ends With Crash On Springs Road

A Hickory man is facing charges following a police chase that ended in a crash on Springs Road on Monday afternoon.

Christopher Douglas Cook, 41, is charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle and resisting a public officer.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office attempted to deploy a set of stop sticks during the pursuit that began on Houston Mill Road around 5pm. The chase ended with a crash on Springs Road near the Rifle Range Road intersection.

Cook is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $10,000 and is scheduled for an initial court appearance today. The suspect has a list of previous charges pending in Catawba County that include larceny, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and assorted traffic related offenses.
