*** Breaking News *** Man Stabbed Overnight In Alexander County

A Taylorsville man suffered severe stab wounds overnight and a Florida man is now in custody. Deputies from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded at 7:42 pm Thursday to a residence on Old Wilkesboro Road north of Taylorsville. An unidentified, 38 year old male had been stabbed multiple times in the chest according to a news release. The victim was able to identify a suspect to officers before he was taken to the Wilkes Regional Medical Center then airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He is listed in stable condition at this time.

The name given to officers was not the correct identity of the suspect but a man was found in a wooded area nearby and taken into custody. 53 year old Jackie White was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. White was confined in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $150,000. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on November 12th.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
