Boone Police arrested 35-year old James Mathew Johnson and charged him with five counts of felony first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor and three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to court documents, some of the alleged crimes date back to 2018. The most recent incidents were in June. Investigators allege Johnson filmed sexual activity with victims that were 13 and 14-year old
The North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force assisted Boone Police in the investigation.
Johnson is being held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a secured bond of $1.5 million.
