Another Shooting, Another Arrest In Statesville

On June 24th, the Statesville Police Department responded to Iredell Memorial Hospital in reference to a victim that had sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach. It was later determined that the shooting took place at 245 Garfield Street. The victim was subsequently transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem with life threatening injuries.

Following the incident, the Violent Crimes Unit was called in to conduct an investigation. Arrest warrants were issued for Craig Alan Blackwell, Jr., a 30-year-old resident of Statesville, on charges of Attempted Murder, Firearm by Felon, and Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits.

On Monday, July 3rd, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding a trespasser on Greenbriar Road. During their investigation, Deputies apprehended an individual who refused to provide his name. While in custody at the Iredell County Jail, it was discovered that the individual in question was Craig Alan Blackwell, Jr.

Craig Alan Blackwell, Jr. was then brought before a magistrate and served with the outstanding arrest warrants. Additionally, he was given a $ 1 million secured bond.
