Alexander County Man Arrested After Standoff

Eric Daniel Barnes, age 42 of the Bethlehem Community, was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Saturday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest came following a standoff with Officers.

Deputies responded to a location after call of an assault. Barnes was armed with a sword and refused to disarm himself. After a period of time, Barnes was taken into custody and charged with assault and vandalism with damage to personal property. He remained in custody as of earlier today under a secured bond of $10,000.
