Alexander Central rallied from down by one point at the half to beat South Caldwell on Wednesday.
Four Lady Cougars hit double figure scoring led by freshman Meredith Wike with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Hallie Jarrett had 12, freshman point guard Malayah Adams finished with 11 and Sydney Hayes added 10. South was led by Lillie Bumgarner with 30 points and 11 rebounds. With the win, AC improves to 11-0 and will battle Newton Conover who downed Hickory 60-50. The Championship final will tip at 6pm in the Tarleton Center on the campus of Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. South will play in the 3rd place game vrs Hickory.

Hickory kept the Cougars at arms length in a battle between the two bitter rivals. Hickory got 23 points from Jay Powell to advance to the championship game. Chad Lasher led the Cougars with 12 points. Hickory won the battle on the backboards 27-18. The Cougars will play Newton Conover in the 3rd place game Thursday at 4:30 pm. Hickory will battle Maiden for the Championship.
