Taylorsville: The Lady Cougars advance after beating rival Watauga for the fourth time this season.

AC jumped out early, led by as may as 16 in the opening quarter but the visitors from Boone battled back to trail 38-30 at the half. They would nibble away at the Lady Cougars and got as close as 5 but in the end it was ACHS celebrating.

Ava Head and Malayah Adams led with 17 each. Meredith Wike added 16 to end her very, very busy day. The senior started her Saturday in Chapel Hill, interviewing for the prestigious Morehead -Cain Scholarship. Quite a day for anyone. As with most things, Wike took it all in stride !

Watauga ends the season with a record of 15-13. Mia Mitchell led the Lady Pioneers with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Alexander Central (24-3), the west #2 seed, will host #3 AC Reynolds, who beat Charlotte Catholic Saturday afternoon 60-48. The game will be played Monday evening in Taylorsville, tip-off at 7pm.
