Taylorsville: Alexander Central’s JV Football team defeated Wilkes Central Thursday evening.
The Baby Cougars never trailed and opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 1 yard TD run from Blake Combs. They scored again in the opening period when Adian Baily hauled in a 66 yard touchdown toss from Graham Hoke.
In the 2nd quarter, Weston Palmer ran into the end zone from 4 yards and Cole Pennell converted the two-point conversion. ACHS led 20-0 at the half.
The Blue and Gold were held scoreless in the second half.
The visiting Eagles scored with 40 seconds remaining in the contest to make the final 20-8.
Wilkes Central out gained the Baby Cougars 173 to 169.
Austin Arrowood led the AC defense with 11 tackles, Krostafer Vang added 7 and Kierian Shaw was in on 6 stops.
Alexander Central is 2-0.
