Morganton Man Charged After Reported Shooting

An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting earlier this week in Burke County. 48-year-old Seua Sarath of B & D Avenue in Morganton is charged with felony counts of discharge of a weapon into occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

On Tuesday, Deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an address on B & D Avenue in Morganton in reference to a reported stabbing or gunshot incident. Upon arrival, deputies found a man lying in the front doorway of a residence. One deputy immediately began assessing the victim for injuries and providing aid, while additional deputies entered the residence to conduct a protective sweep.

Once the scene was secured, Burke County EMS responded and transported the victim to a local medical facility for treatment. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated an investigation into the shooting.

As a result of the investigation and the execution of the search warrant, Seua Sarath was arrested and charged. He was denied bond
