Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Granite Falls Collision

Granite Falls- On Sunday, June 28th at approximately 7:42 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on US 321 near Glenn Ridge Drive, in Caldwell County. A 2008 Honda passenger car was traveling the wrong way, North in the Southbound lane of 321. The Honda then collided head on with a 2015 Nissan passenger car.

The driver of the Honda, Marvin Wayne Anderson, 65, of Granite Falls, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the Nissan, Corbin Ray Mcghinnis, 18, of Granite Falls, was transported to Frye Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

The initial investigation does not indicate speed or impairment to be a contributing factor in the collision.

While Troopers conducted the on-scene investigation, US 321 was closed for several hours.

There will be no charges in this case.
