Wilkes County Man Sent To Prison For Assault And Child Abuse Charges

A Wilkes County man has been sentenced to between 92 and 123 months ( 7.5 years to 10.3 years) in prison.

In Wilkes Superior Court on January 12th, David Odell Minton, 34, of Roaring River, pleaded guilty to assault by strangulation, intentional child abuse causing serious physical injury and misdemeanor child abuse.

Minton was sentenced by Judge Michael Duncan for incidents that occurred at his residence in August and December, 2021. The victim is a male who was 2 years old when the offenses occurred.

The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office said some of the offenses were captured on video.

Minton’s wife, 28-year old Victoria Huff Minton is a co-defendant in the case. She is being sought for failure to appear in court on one count of felony child abuse causing serious physical injury and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
