We reported earlier in the week that Ricky Prevette, 61 of Wilkesboro was arrested around 2:30 on Monday by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team. The arrest followed a standoff with law enforcement that lasted around seven hours.
Reports indicate that Deputies responded after Prevette has fired a shot at a neighbor before he went into his home and refused to exit. Few other details of the incident have been revealed.
On Wednesday, Prevette was charged with four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, three counts of communicating threats, pointing a gun, possession of firearm by a felon, two counts of assault on a law enforcement, two counts of resisting arrest and discharging a gun from an enclosure to incite fear. He’s being held in the Wilkes County Jail.
Prevette has a lengthy criminal record which includes indecent liberties with a child, failure to register as a sex offender, assault, assault on a female, trespassing, and drug possession.
