Wilkes County Man Charged In Triple Shooting

A Wilkes County man has been charged after three people were shot at an Elkin tavern.

The Elkin Police Department says the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., Sunday, July 16, at the Angry Troll Brewery on East Main Street.

The suspected shooter, David Zavaleta Rojas, 26, of Ronda, was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill involving serious injury, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of intoxication/disruption, and discharging a firearm inside city limits, the press release stated.
 
Police say that Rojas was arrested at the scene without incident. He was placed in the Surry County Detention Center on a $505,000 bond.

The shooting victims, according police, were transported by ambulance to hospitals to be treated for their injuries – two were taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, and one was taken to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.
 
Officers from the Surry County Sheriff’s Department and Jonesville Police Department also responded to the scene.
