Wilkes County Man Charged After Alleged “Road-Rage” Incident

A Wilkes County man has been arrested after a reported “road-rage” incident.

According to North Wilkesboro Police, on Monday, September 29th at approximately 7:35 am, Wilkes County 911 received a call of a road rage incident where a suspect pointed a firearm. The incident took place on Hwy 18 near Finley Avenue. The suspect vehicle was given out by Wilkes Emergency Communications Center as a black in color, Dodge Avenger passenger car that was last seen turning onto Finley Avenue, driven by a black male.

An officer observed a vehicle matching the description traveling west on D Street near 9th Street while exceeding the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped as other law enforcement responded.

A Glock 17, 9mm caliber pistol with a suppressor was found in the vehicle along with a loaded 30 round capacity magazine and two loaded 17 round capacity magazines.

The driver, Cedric Lawrence White, age 26, of Mulberry was charged with Felony possessing a weapon of mass destruction, Misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, Common law going armed to the terror of the people and Misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.

White according to reports admitted to the road rage incident and brandishing the firearm but said he didn’t point the handgun at anyone.
