Hickory: Northern Guilford made some big shots in crucial moments and spoiled the Lady Cougars quest for a state title.
AC led 28-26 at half to see Northern Guilford hold a 50-47 lead heading to the final period. The Lady Cougars held a two-point lead with just under two minutes left but in the end, the Night Hawks prevailed.
Senior Meredith Wike, in her final game, led AC with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow Senior Malayah Adams checked-in with 14 points and Faith Burch added 10 points and 10 boards.
The season ends for the Lady Cougars at 25-4.
