Taylorsville, NC – West Alexander Middle School has been officially recognized as a School to Watch, a distinguished honor awarded to middle schools that demonstrate academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and strong organizational structures.

The Schools to Watch designation by The National Forum highlights middle schools that are making a measurable difference in student achievement while creating an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. This recognition reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to high expectations, innovative instructional practices, and a culture built on strong relationships and student success.

West Alexander Middle School earned this honor through a rigorous evaluation process that examined academic performance data, instructional practices, student support systems, and overall school climate. The recognition affirms the school’s dedication to:

Promoting high academic achievement for all students
Providing developmentally responsive instruction
Ensuring equitable opportunities for every learner
Fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative school culture

As part of this recognition, a team of West Alexander Middle School staff members will present at the North Carolina Middle Level Education Conference, where they will share effective practices, innovative strategies, and the systems that have contributed to the school’s success. This opportunity allows the school to contribute to statewide professional learning while showcasing the impactful work taking place within West Alexander Middle School.

“This distinction is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners,” Principal Amy Daigle shared. “It reflects a shared commitment to excellence and our belief that every student deserves meaningful opportunities to succeed.”

The Schools to Watch program recognizes middle schools that serve as models of best practices and continuous improvement. As a designated School to Watch campus, West Alexander Middle School joins a select network of high-performing middle schools committed to ongoing growth and innovation.
