Boone: A plain and simple rout ! Watauga won the Northwestern Conference title Friday night by jumping out to a big lead and cruising to victory.
The Pioneers led 27-10 after the first quarter and 37-16 at the half. They led by as many as 25 in the third period before Alexander Central chipped away and made the final score closer than the game actually was.
Wyatt Kohout led Watauga with 19 points. Maddox Greene scored 17 points and Jackson Pryor had 14 and 10 rebounds.
Alexander Central’s Jayon Connor led the scoring for AC with 15.
Watauga will head to the State 4A Playoffs with record of 21-5. Alexander Central finishes 12-15.

Watauga 68 Hibriten 46
Watauga captured the league title with a convincing beat-down of Hibriten.
Kate Sears led the Lady Pioneers with 28 points and 15 rebounds. She would be named the Tournament MVP.
Watauga will go to the State Playoffs at 21-5. Hibriten falls to 18-8.
