Two Women Killed, Four Children Injured In Caldwell County Head-On Collision

LENOIR – On Friday, April 21, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on US 64 near Beecher Anderson Road. A 2002 Chevrolet Astro was traveling west on US 64, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette.

The driver of the Astro, Deanna Lynn Ross, 41, of Lenoir, was transported by EMS to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. She was not restrained by a seatbelt.

The driver of the Silhouette, Reyna Mendoza, 29, of Valdese, was transported by EMS to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Four minors in the vehicle were transported to various hospitals in the area with injuries.

US 64 was closed in the area for over an hour during the on-scene investigation.
