Two Alexander County men remain in jail, both charged with two counts of murder and an attempted third.
On Tuesday, a juvenile was arrested and charged with the same offenses.
The shooting happened shortly before midnight last Thursday off Lowery Wood Road, near the Cleveland County line.
Robert Lucas “Luke” Gibby, age 22, and Adam Kale Wood, age 19 were shot to death at the scene. About two hours later, another man, Todd Payton Lee Waggoner, age 21, was also shot but survived.
Early Monday morning 19-year old Michael Shane Barnes of Taylorsville was taken into custody at a motel in Wilkesboro. Alexander County Sheriff’s Office investigators and Taylorsville Police had obtained information that Barnes was in Wilkes County. Monday afternoon, 21-year-old Kaleb Isiah Carver of Taylorsville was taken into custody in Alexander County. Both men are charged with two counts of 1st -degree murder and a charge of attempted murder. They remain in the Gaston County Jail being held without bond.On Tuesday, Gaston County authorities arrested a juvenile and charged them with two counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Reports indicate that drugs and or drug-dealing played a role in the slayings. The Gaston County Sheriff’s Office has not commented on the possibility of additional suspects.
