Stanley – On Sunday, June 21st at approximately 12:04 a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on N.C. 16 near Sifford Road, in Lincoln County. A 2017 Ram Pickup was traveling the wrong way, North in the South bound lane of N.C. 16 and collided head on with a 2021 Mercedes Van. After the collision, both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the Ram, Alejandro Sierra Gutierrez, 33, of Vale, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the Mercedes, Jamar Louis Barnett Mishoe, 36, of Concord, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
The initial investigation may suspect impairment contributed to the collision.
Troopers conducted the on-scene investigation for more than three hours while N.C. 16 was closed.
