Two Dead In Catawba County Crash

November 9, 2021 By Richard C. Gilbert

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Catawba County in which two people were killed. On Monday (November 8), at approximately 4:30 p.m., Highway Patrol responded to Old Shelby Road near Interstate 40. A 2004 Lincoln Town Car was traveling south on Old Shelby Road, ran off the road to the right, crossed back over the roadway, ran off the road to the left, and collided with a tree.

The driver, 30-year-old Phillip Patrick Hudson of Hickory, passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seat belt. The passenger, 31-year-old Alexander Ezekiel Woznick of Hickory, also died as a result of his injuries at the scene. He was restrained by a seat belt. Speeding and reckless driving appear to be contributing factors in the collision.
