A triple-murder is under investigation in Burke County. On Monday, June 27 at 5:32 p.m. the Burke County 911 Center received a call regarding a shooting that just occurred at an address on Rhododendron Run in Newland. In light of the distance to the scene and being close to the Avery County line, responding Burke County Deputies requested assistance from Avery County deputies.
Upon arrival, Burke County deputies found Avery County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and first responders on the scene. Two Avery County EMS units were preparing to transport two persons who had been shot.
The preliminary investigation found that three people had been shot in connection to a domestic situation. 56-year-old Polly Ann Keller, whose address is the same Rhododendron Run residence officers responded to, passed away at the scene. 32-year-old Jeremy Dean Clark of Parkway Road in Newland and 33-year-old Anthony Simon Franklin of George White Lane in Newland both died enroute to the hospital.
At this time, the preliminary investigation indicates that two of the three deceased persons fired shots. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office CID detectives are continuing the investigation and will share their results with the District Attorney when the investigation is completed. More information will be provided as it is received.
