On Monday, March 7, at approximately 5:00 PM, a hit confirmation was received on a stolen vehicle via the Flock Safety License Plate Reader Camera. The camera is being utilized by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office in the Bethlehem Community. The hit confirmation was received on a license plate of a silver Chevrolet HHR, which was reported stolen Sunday evening in Burke County.
Deputies responded to the area, where the vehicle was located. Three subjects who were in the vehicle were detained. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and a quantity of methamphetamine .
The following charges were filed.
David Larry Abernathy Jr, age 52 of Taylorsville was charged with Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was placed under a $15,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of Monday, March 14, 2022 in Alexander County District Court. Todd Lee Hefner, age 55 of Taylorsville was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was placed under a $7,500 secured bond with a first appearance date of Monday, March 14, 2022 in Alexander County District Court. Sheri Billings Coley, age 54 of Taylorsville was charged with Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was placed under a $2,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of April 4, 2022 in Alexander County District Court.Photos: Alexander County Sheriff’s Office
