Two Men Charged With Arson In Iredell County

May 3, 2023 By Richard C. Gilbert

Michael Andrew King-Hayden Lamar Poore

19-year-old Michael Andrew King and 19-year-old Hayden Lamar Poore, both from Harmony, were arrested Friday, April 28th by Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputies. They’re charged with felony burning of an uninhabited residence and breaking & entering along with a misdemeanor count of breaking & entering.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 19, Iredell County Sheriff ‘s Deputies responded to Tomlinson Avenue in Harmony to assist the Harmony Fire Department and the Iredell County Fire Marshal’s office with a suspicious house fire.

The unoccupied residence was fully engulfed in flames by the time deputies and firefighters arrived. The home was vacant at the time and had no power. The Fire Marshal’s Office said the cause of the fire was determined to be suspicious and was most likely arson.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. After collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, the two suspects were identified as Michael Andrew King and Hayden Lamar Poore. Evidence gathered by the detectives shows that both King and Poore had broken into the residence on April 18 and again in the early morning hours of April 19, when the fire was set.

Both suspects were interviewed and reportedly gave statements regarding their involvement. The suspects were arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. King received a $10,000 secured bond, and Poore received an $8,000 secured bond. King remained in jail as of earlier today. Poore is no longer listed as an inmate in Iredell County. They’re both scheduled to appear in District Court May 22.
