After Mountain View Urgent Care announced their plans to leave Taylorsville at least “temporarily” town manager Nathan Hester said on Thursday, “We hope to bring in another provider.” When asked if he had an assurance that the urgent care would return, he replied, “none whatsoever.”
On Wednesday, Mountain View Urgent Care announced their intention to relocate their Alexander County operation to Hickory on June 25th. They indicated they planed to return to Alexander County after the construction of a new facility although they offered no timeline.
Mountain View Urgent Care filled a huge void when they came to Taylorsville in 2013 Hester said. They opened a facility in Taylorsville using a building owned by the town. Alexander County’s Hospital closed in 2007.
Hester says in February, he met with the urgent care owner about issues that had been ongoing. He says he informed the owner that the contract had expired in 2020 that provided them with an incentive of paying no utilities. The town asked for the practice to begin paying utilities and the lease would include an increase in the monthly rent. Hester says the owner agreed to the stipulations with the understanding that an ongoing property drainage issue would be fixed. The structure has seen water entering the building during heavy rains. The town manager says repairs have been made and to his knowledge, “there have no water issues during some recent heavy rains.”
Taylorsville’s town attorney sent documents outlining the verbal agreements but Mountain View Urgent Care never responded. Repeated efforts to reach the management including phone calls and emails went without response.
