Boone Police Arrest South Carolina Murder Suspect

A man wanted on a murder charge in South Carolina was arrested Thursday afternoon in Boone after a Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) alerted local law enforcement that the suspect’s vehicle had entered town.

At approximately 1:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the Boone Police Department and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office were notified by flock safety, which identified a vehicle associated with an individual wanted on an outstanding murder warrant from Greenville County, South Carolina.

Boone Police officers and Watauga County Sheriff’s deputies immediately coordinated efforts to locate the vehicle and the suspect. Through real-time information sharing and a joint response, officers located the individual at the Watauga County Recreation Center.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Raimon St. John Campbell of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Campbell was held without bond pending an appearance in Watauga County District Court.
