
Willard Gary Black
Newton Police say 59-year-old Robert Roger Arguelles of Taylorsville was fatally shot at Old Hickory Tannery located at 970 Locust St. in Newton. Arguelles, a member of the Alexander County Board of Education was shot in the chest and back during an altercation with Willard Gary Black, 85, of Hickory. Black has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The gun used in the shooting has been recovered by Newton Police.
Black and Arguelles are listed as the co-owners of the company.
