On Sunday, June 4th,shortly after midnight, the Alexander County 911 communication center received a call to the Piney Grove Road area regarding a breaking and entering in progress. Responding to the residence, an Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputy passed a subject on a bicycle. The description given by the caller matched the description of the person on the bicycle, so the Deputy turned around to find the possible suspect. The Deputy located the suspect hiding. After an investigation, Matthew Lawton Headden was arrested and taken to the Alexander County Detention Center. Thanks to the Taylorsville Police Department for assisting in this case. 35-year old Matthew Lawton Headden of Taylorsville is charged with one count of attempted breaking and entering and one count of resisting a public officer.
