James Kenneth Barnette
Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a location on Park Lane, located northwest of Taylorsville. Alexander County 911 received information regarding a break-in and shots being fired.
Deputies found a subject in a driveway that had been assaulted by a male identified as 39-year old James Kenneth Barnette of Taylorsville. Barnette had fled the scene but was spotted nearby and taken into custody.
Barnette is charged with assault by pointing a gun, assault with a deadly weapon and felony first-degree burglary. He was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $100,000.
The suspect was given an 18-month suspended sentence in April for assault on a female.
Barnette is awaiting trial on February charges of felony discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, assault on a child under the age of 12, assault on a female and misdemeanor child abuse. The court date on those offenses is October 9th in Alexanader County Superior Court.
