Taylorsville Crash Leaves One Dead And At Least Two Injured

The Highway Patrol has confirmed that one person was killed in a crash on Thursday afternoon south of Taylorsville.

Troopers were pursuing a stolen vehicle on Highway 16 South. The driver of the stolen vehicle refused to stop and collided with another vehicle near the Alexander County Fairgrounds.

A man and woman were in the car that was struck. The man was killed and the woman was airlifted to a regional medical facility.

The suspect driving the stolen vehicle was pulled from the flames of car he was operating and taken to an area hospital. His injuries are said to be non life-threatening.

Highway 16 remains closed south of Taylorsville from Macedonia Church Road to Millersville Road.
