The Following is a release from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office:
On Sunday March 10, 2019 shortly after 8:00 pm, a 911 call was received in reference to a man being shot. Deputies arrived on scene at 172 Damascus Church Road within minutes. They were advised by witnesses the suspect had fled the scene heading towards Alexander County.
The suspect was identified as Joshua David Dalton. The scene was secured so the investigation could continue with detectives, and crime scene investigators. Information was sent out to other deputies, and to surrounding counties in an attempt to locate the suspect.While the suspect search continued detectives arrived to process the crime scene. They interviewed a witness who saw the shooting occur. The victim, who suffered what appeared to be a non-life threatening wound, was later interviewed at a medical facility.
According to the interviews, Joshua Dalton arrived at 172 Damascus Church Road. The suspect was known to the victim and witness. The victim said Dalton was not welcome there, and he confronted him in the driveway and told him he had to leave. Dalton then pulled out a gun from inside his vehicle, and shot the victim once before fleeing the scene.
Joshua David Dalton was driving a black Jeep Cherokee. This vehicle was located abandoned around 9:30 am on Monday March 11, 2019.
A Felony Arrest Warrant has been issued for for one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. If anyone sees Dalton or has information on where he can be located, please call 911 or the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704-878-3100.
