Stony Point Woman Arrested After Early Morning Stabbing

A Stony Point woman is in custody following a reported stabbing incident early Sunday morning.

Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies have charged 20-year-old Marissa Renee Doby of NC Highway 90 East. She’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury, crime of domestic violence and resisting arrest.

Arrest documentation indicates Doby allegedly stabbed a male subject in the shoulder with a knife resulting in serious injury. The suspect also resisted arrest by attempting to flee on foot.

Doby is being held without bond pending a first court appearance on Monday in Alexander County District Court.
