Alexander Central 1
South Caldwell 2
In a showdown for softball supremacy in the Northwestern Conference, South Caldwell rallied for a pair of runs in the 7th inning to beat Alexander Central and avenge a loss earlier in the season. The two teams are now knotted atop the league standings.
The game was expected to be a pitchers duel between the Lady Cougars Faith Carrigan and the Spartans Kadie Becker. The two did not disappoint.
Carrigan lifted a majestic home run to right center field in the 6th to give the visitors from Taylorsville a 1-0 lead. In the home half of the 7th, Carrigan retired the lead off batter. A ground ball to short was bobbled allowing the batter to reach. South got two hits in the inning and were issued a walk to take the dramatic win.
Both teams now are 7-1 in league play heading into the Spring Break.
