Shots Fired Near High School Campus In Morganton

Two men have been charged after an employee saw subjects firing guns into the air from a car near Freedom High School in Morganton on Thursday.

J’Kobe Tre-Shon Ramseur, 20, of Statesville, and Tyon Shamar Turner, 20, of Morganton, were charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a gun within an enclosure to incite fear by the Morganton Department of Public Safety

A school employee at Freedom High School reported seeing someone in a white passenger car firing a gun from the car into the air in front of the school shortly before 11 a.m.

Officers found a vehicle matching the suspect car’s description within minutes at an apartment complex the school.

Ramseur has two previous convictions of discharging a firearm into an occupied property from a 2021 incident in Catawba County.

Turner has previous convictions of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
