Shooting This Morning In Hickory

(Hickory, October 8, 2020) – This morning at approximately 12:08 A.M., Hickory Police Officers responded to the 100 block of 18th Street NW in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year- old white male, Nicholas Zachary Rozzelle lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. Rozzelle was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he was initially treated prior to being transferred to Carolina’s Medical Center by helicopter and is listed in critical condition.

During the initial investigation, it was determined that Rozzelle was confronted by two black males wearing dark clothing. One of the males shot Rozzelle and then the two subjects fled the area on foot.
