Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Millersville Baptist Church located off Highway 16 south of Taylorsville on Thursday afternoon.
The church is the home of the Millersville Christian Academy.
At least one person spotted two people walking on property adjacent to the school around 1:24 pm. One of the subjects sighted was said to be carrying what appeared to be a rifle. Church and School Officials called 911 and enacted established procedures to secure the property.
Taylorsville Police, the Office and Probation and Parole along with Troopers from the NC Highway Patrol responded as well.
Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said the area was searched but the two subjects were not located. He said there is no indication that the persons were on the property of the school but the situation was taken seriously and Deputies will remain on site through the end of the school day.
