Sheriff’s Office Participates In Operation Medicine Drop

On Tuesday, October 27 the Alexander County Sheriff’s Officer participated in Operation Medicine Drop which is sponsored by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

The purpose of Operation Medicine Drop is to help stop prescription drugs from falling into the wrong hands so they can be safely disposed of. This event typically takes place State wide in the spring and fall.

The Sheriff’s Office maintains a medication dropbox located in the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center.
Old and unused medications can be safely dropped into the secure collection box Monday thru Friday between 8am and 5 pm. Yesterday the Alexander County Sheriff’s Officer transported approximately 85 pounds of collected medications to the Hickory SBI Lab for proper disposal.
