A new scam has been reported in the area. You will get a message from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. A 1099 is mailed out to a person that includes the last 4 digits of their SS number.
When you call the number given and indicate you haven’t worked in Ohio, you’re asked for your Social Security Number. THIS IS A SCAM !!!
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR CERTAIN WHO YOU ARE TALKING WITH !
There have been several people in the county to receive this 1099. IT IS NOT LEGIT, IT IS A SCAM, DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION! If you receive one of these letters, you can report it to the Alexander Sheriff’s Office.
