Over five acres of brush and grassland burned Saturday night in Western Alexander County.
NC Forest Service Ranger David Huffman says five and a half acres was damaged off Houck Mountain Road and Rocky Heights Drive in the Ellendale Community. Units were alerted around 6pm to a power line down setting fire to brush and grass.
Huffman says Ellendale, Taylorsville, Bethlehem and Little River Fire Departments responded along the with NC Forest Service. He adds that the damage could have been much worse considering the high winds at the time.
No structures were damaged.
