One Dead After Morning Crash In Wilkes County

A man in his 80’s died after a head-on collision this morning in Wilkes County.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Highway 268 near Whites Creek Road at about 10:30 a.m. Investigators say a pickup truck traveling east attempted to pass a school bus in a no-passing zone. The pickup collided head-on with a passenger car. The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the car , Clyde Delano Cox, 84, of Ferguson, died at the scene. A passenger in the passenger car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending.
