On Thursday afternoon, 33-year old Harlis Ray Crum was taken into custody by Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spotted him in a vehicle on US 64-90 near Hiddenite. Crum had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and felony probation violation. Crum jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot leading Deputies on a foot chase. He was soon captured and arrested.
Crum was charged with felony probation violation, failure to appear, resisting arrest, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has a list of pending charges in Alexander County that include felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon, felony obtaining property by false pretense, and various drug possession counts. He also has a number of pending charges in Catawba County including felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Crum is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $35,000. He has a series of court dates including Monday, November 9th on the latest charges in Alexander County District Court.
