Morganton Woman Killed In Fire, Man Arrested For Impersonating Firefighter

A man has been charged with impersonating a firefighter after a woman died in an early morning fire in Morganton on Wednesday.

37-year old Christopher Victor Miglino of Morganton was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with impersonating a firefighter or medical personnel, resist, delay, and obstruct a public officer, and city ordinance violation.

Morganton firefighters were called to a structure fire on Morehead Street around 12:10 am. A neighbor was at the scene of the fire, dressed in FDNY turnout gear and attempting to put out the fire with a garden hose. Morganton Firefighters took over suppression efforts but the man identified as Miglino refused to stand down.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Miglino is being held without bond.
