Morganton Man Facing Murder Charge

A Morganton man has been charged with murder in McDowell County.

Monday evening, Marion Police Officers responded to a disturbance on Park Avenue. They found Ethan Dakota Troutman, 20, of Marion, lying in the street with a single gunshot wound to the torso. A short time later, Troutman was pronounced dead.

Emillio Jesus Villarreal, 24 of Morganton is charged with murder. Investigators are still attempting to locate one unnamed individual for questioning who fled from the scene after the shooting. Villarreal is being held in the McDowell County Jail without bond.
