A Morganton man is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center after being served warrants by authorities in Burke County. 36-year-old Matthew Steven Baird was served failure to appear warrants on 2024 charges in Alexander County. He was arrested twice in 2024 (March and September) by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office for felony obtaining property by false pretense. A judge set bond for Baird at $360,000. An October 6th court date is scheduled in Taylorsville.
