A man was killed Friday in what is being called an officer-involved shooting in Iredell County.
The incident took place at a residence off Bell Farm Road near Statesville.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were attempting to serve felony arrest warrants for robbery with a dangerous weapon, violent habitual felon and second-degree kidnapping. Multiple attempts to get a man to come out of the home were unsuccessful. The subject was located in the home’s crawlspace and was armed with a rifle according to reports. The suspect aimed the weapon at a deputy. The officer fired and killed the yet to be identified man. No deputies were injured.
Per policy, the deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
