Man Killed In Iredell County Crash

June 26, 2022 By Richard C. Gilbert

A Statesville man died on Friday after a crash on Interstate 77 in Iredell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the accident happened around 6 p.m. on I-77 south near mile marker 47.

The Patrol says a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on I-77 in the right lane behind a Chevrolet Avalanche. The Chevrolet began stopping due to heavy traffic ahead but the motorcyclist didn’t slow down, collided with the back of the Chrevrolet and overturned.

Eric Lamont Overcash, 58, died at the scene.

The 16-year old driver of the Chevy was not injured.
