A man was taken into custody after spending more than two hours on the roof of a fast-food restaurant in Hudson. At approximately 7:15 p.m. Thursday (July 15) Hudson Police Officers responded to Bojangles on Hickory Boulevard (U.S. 321) to investigate a report of a man on top of the roof of the business who was threatening to do harm to himself. Police reports say the individual was experiencing emotional distress and was hoping to draw attention to what he believed were injustices towards him and his family.
A crisis negotiator responded from Caldwell County Emergency Management to assist Hudson Police, while Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies and Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol maintained a perimeter around Bojangles to provide security. The Hudson Fire Department also responded. At approximately 9:15 p.m. the man was taken into custody without incident. His identity has not been released. Charges are possible in this case.
